| | Sports betting, Stock Exchange, Casino and Horse racing : A brief comparaison. |
|
Can we apply to the sports betting the methods of the games in casinos, horse-races or the stock exchange ?
It is about a crucial question there at the time of choosing a Method and\or a Technique of sports betting. It would be necessary to specify at first, that these 4 activities of leisure have certainly common points (implementation of certain knowledge and consideration of the luck factor) but also numerous points of difference . Here is a small table which aims to clarify the ideas. |
|
| Table of comparison. |
| | Chance (%) | Knowledge (%) | Techniques & methods (%) | Opponent |
| Sporting Bets | 25 | 50 | 25 | Other punters |
| Stock Exchange | 30 | 40 | 30 | Specialized funds and other punters. |
| Casino | 50 | 25 | 25 | Bookmakers and other punters. |
| Horse racing | 33 | 34 | 33 | Other punters. |

| | The values in the table are believed to be trustworthy.
Means knowledge are the basics of the activity : rules and socio-psychological approach (Casino); behavior of horses (Racing); economic laws of market (stock exchanges); laws of sport and common uses in various leagues (sports betting). In all cases, the importance of statistics and information related to current events is no more to be proved.
The methods and techniques collect all the keys that allow a punter to take a decisive advantage over its competitors.
In stock exchanges, the ultimate question is whether a value is up or down (answer yes / no) on the short (or medium) term. In sports betting, we would predict the outcome of a game (1 or N or 2) and in some bets the problem is reduced to binary (yes / no) when the draw is set aside. In casino (especially poker) we would try to make the bids to be the best 5 cards. In horse racing, the goal is for example to announce for the treble. |

Obviously when a method is set up, it is well suited for a specific activity than for others, even if some adaptations can often be made.
It also becomes clear that common points can be found between sports betting and stock market , and to a lesser extent the horse racing if we reduce the problem to a binary level (ex: for two horses A and B of the starting line, which will have the better rank on arrival ? or will horse C be there in the first three ?) |
